REFLECTIONS: The Recovery: P.O.V Eye Blink after effects

For one of our scenes we are going to produce a P.O.V shot of our main character "Troy" after he has been hit by an oncoming car. The difference with the P.O.V shot that we are going to create is we are going to give a blinking effect, with the sound of disorientation, and we will be using After Effects in order to achieve this.

I have been researching into possible methods of achieving this and here is one of the approaches I will experiment with.

I will create 2 black solids wider than the composition and place them above the footage, I will add a fast blur to them, then key frame their position to start one above and below and then to meet in the middle. This is the method used for the above video. 

Another method in which we could use, and could possibly produce better results. Place a black solid above the footage and then use the CC split effect with fast blur added (tick repeat edge pixels) and slide its points A & B well off the sides of the composition and keyframe the split.
